N.F.L.

Well, I admit that I came up with the title after seeing an ad on TV that the NFL (National Football League) will be hosting an all star game the 1st Sunday of this month. However, the title is in reference to my performance-Not Fast Lately! I have been struggling with this extremely hot & humid weather and have been on drought in regards to breaking 19, which previously was easy;I may have taken that for granted. Here & there, I get a good race but time-wise, I am barely better the Miami Dolphins... well, maybe a lot better but you get my drift. By the grace of God, I have persisted, both in training, participation & winning, despite these set backs. Proof positive that prayer works!

Saturday agenda-summer sizzler, part 2

Due to my commitment to this series, I had to pass on the fit2run 4 miler, which hosted a club challenge. It was a money race, so it drew many people, including some that did part 1 and defeated yours truly. Due to NFL, the master title got away from me but amazingly, I still got in the top ten & fell to top in my expanded ten year age group. They gave out a different medal from the last race. The weather topped over 90 degrees after the 7:30 start. The master did a time I usually beat with ease, but not the case today.

Sunday agenda-Huntington's disease triathlon

The title reveals that it supported research for this disease. They held both an Olympic & sprint;we did the latter. Although less hot (rained in morning) due to cloudiness, the humidity was relentless. The sun came out to add to our misery. I brought in a new swimmer, Cathy, who competed in her first relay. I remembered her because she competed as an individual in the past. The runner, Gene, is fast becoming a veteran. We were in the hole when I started & I past at least 1 in the relay and got my personal best on the bike. The top ten time performance was the 2nd fastest of all relays, surprisingly. We took runner up to an expert team, whose cyclist posted a time similar to KC! Despite the top 3 (overall time) being the fastest of all relays, we came up short. I am proud of them and pleased to be on the podium.
